Hibakusha selected for showcase gig at FortaRock on June 4, BBC Radio 1 DJ Daniel P. Carter and more panelists confirmed for conference

The fourth edition of Buma ROCKS!, the international conference and showcase festival for loud music, will take place on Saturday 4 June 2016. We are pleased to announce new names for both the conference and showcase line-up. Tickets for Buma ROCKS! 2016 are set at € 45 and are available through the website.

Hibakusha selected from 119 applications to play showcase gig at FortaRock

A team of experts from Buma ROCKS!, FortaRock and MOJO has been listening closely to all 119 bands that applied for the last remaining slot on the Buma ROCKS! stage at FortaRock. Finally, Hibakusha was chosen from the list. The five-piece metal band from Haarlem will perform on Saturday evening June 4 alongside Legion Of The Damned, Heidevolk and EVRA. The 119 bands that applied cover all sub-genres of heavy rock, metal and punk. It was great to see that compared to former editions of Buma ROCKS!, the number of applications has more than doubled.

New names at the conference: Daniel P. Carter, Holger Stratmann, Nathan Barley Phillips and Saïd Al-Haddad

BBC Radio 1 DJ Daniel P. Carter (photo) is well-known through his immensely popular Rock Show on Sunday night. He has grown up through the UK emo and hardcore scenes, playing in bands and putting on shows. In his Rock Show he is playing lots of new music, ranging from pop punk to extreme metal. Holger Stratmann is the founder and publisher of German metal magazine Rock Hard, which started out in 1983 as a fanzine. Rock Hard is available on newsstands in nineteen European countries and is being published in translation in twelve countries, including Canada and Brazil. As of 2003 Rock Hard puts its own festival together at the town of Gelsenkirchen. Nathan Barley Phillips formed Basick Records in 2005 and set about the task of developing a forward thinking record label for heavy music. Releasing early material from emerging UK bands such as Enter Shikari and Fellsilent, Basick has stayed on the cutting edge of heavy music. Currently on its roster are bands like Sky Harbor, Devil Sold His Soul, SikTh and Foes. Saïd Al-Haddad has been working at radio station FM Brussel 98.8 since 2004. Next to his job as a reporter, editor and producer he is putting together metal radio show MENTAL on fmbrussel.be. Presented in three languages (FR/NL/EN), MENTAL features lots of new heavy music, with the Belgian scene as its main focus.
